Abstract

A Class III intensive cultural resource survey was conducted on 2848 acres planned for coal bed methane exploration and about three miles of associated access roads. Fifteen cultural sites and three prehistoric isolated artifacts were found. Four of the sites (48CA4252, 48CA4256, 48CA4259, and 48CA4261) are evaluated as significant, and avoidance (or alternatively additional archeological work) is recommended for the site areas. No further work is recommended for the other sites and isolates, and cultural clearance is recommended with no special stipulations for all other parts of the project.
